Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift the
flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and ginger together. In a separate large
bowl, mix the sugar, molasses, and melted vegetable shortening. Add the sifted
ingredients and mix in the boiling water. Pour mixture into a lightly greased
and floured 9x9-inch cake pan and bake for about 25 minutes. (Serves 9)
