Directions:
Mix together the chopped dates, sugar,
margarine, and boiling water, then let the mixture cool. In a separate bowl,
sift together the flour, salt, powdered egg substitute, and baking soda. Add
these sifted ingredients and the nuts to the date mixture. Bake in a greased
and lightly floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pan at 350 degrees F for approximately
40 minutes. (Serves 9-12) |

- 1/2 cup unbleached, granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup non-hydrogenated margarine
- 3/4 cup and 2 tbsp. boiling water
- 1 rounded teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons powdered egg substitute
(EnerG Egg Replacer or other brand)
- 1 and 3/4 cups unbleached flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
